Audree H. Champeon,
88, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Monday, November 5, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center of natural causes. She was born October 2, 1919, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Elmo & Gertrude Beiser Hawkins. She married Donald D. Champeon on September 29, 1946 in Washington, D.C. He died March 29, 1965. She married James Francis on October 23, 1975 in Sebec, Maine. He preceded her in death in 1992. After graduation from high school in St. Louis, she worked for the government in Washington, D.C., where she met her husband and married. She lived in Dexter, Maine, for 18 years where she was actively involved in many charities, including the American Red Cross, the Girl Scouts, and the General Federation of Women's Clubs. Following the death of her first husband, she moved to Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, where she resided for many years, traveling extensively. After the death of her second husband, she returned to Maine where she enjoyed reading, quilting, and spending time with family. In 2005, she moved to Iowa to be near her granddaughter. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include: one son, Donald (Linda) Champeon, of Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela; two grandchildren, Jenny (Daniel) Miller of Cedar Falls, IA, and Birch (Connie) Champeon of Grand Rapids, MI; two great-grandsons; and one sister, Winifred Stoddard of Summerfield, Florida.
Services: 2:00pm Friday, November 16, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter, Maine, a memorial service with burial to follow. Memorials: will benefit Ninos de un Nuevo Amanecer, an orphanage in Venezuela. Direct memorials to First Baptist Church - Hempstead, 267 Jackson Street, Hempstead, NY 11550. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is assisting the family.
