ARVADA PICKERING,
86, of Cedar Falls died Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at her home. Arvada was born December 21, 1918 in Aplington, Iowa the daughter of George H. & Dena (Havinga) Naber. She married Albert O. Pickering January 28, 1956 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He preceded her in death April 15, 1990. Arvada worked at Whetstone Drug in Iowa City and then while living in Long Beach, California, she worked at St. Mary's Hospital and also managed apartments.
Survivors include her son, Larry M. Betts of Iowa City, Iowa; two stepsons, Paul Pickering of California and Dale Pickering of Mesa, Arizona; one stepdaugher, Carleen Ciha of Hackensack, Minnesota; five step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; one brother, George (Dorothy) Naber of Cedar Falls and one sister, Audrey Schoeman of New Hartford, Iowa. Arvada was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one son in infancy.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2005 at Stout Gospel Hall with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg. Memorials may be directed to the family.
