ARTHUR K. HANSEN was born January 25, 1924 in Dike, Iowa, the son of Irenius and Helga (Weltz) Hansen. He married Verity "Dew" Randolph on January 16, 1948 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Arthur served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II. He was a football player for the Waterloo Wildcats semi-pro team. Arthur was also a butcher for many years at Rath Packing Company in Waterloo, Iowa, retiring in 1982. He served as a Boy Scout leader for 25 years and was a charter member of the Cedar Falls High School Boosters Club. Arthur died Saturday, July 13, 2002, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, at 78 years of age. He is survived by his wife of Cedar Falls; two sons, Eugene (Sue) "Bud" Hansen of Cedar Falls and Michael (Gail) Hansen of Lake Mills, Iowa; five grandchildren, Jennifer Derby, Lia Hansen Cohen, Andrew Hansen, Blake Hansen and Todd Hansen; a grandson, Brett Hansen and a brother, Earl (Freda) Hansen of Cedar Falls.  Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Betsy Hansen; five brothers, Vic and Einer Lindholm, and Sonny, Stub and Paul Hansen, and two sisters, Sis Backerman and Irene Hansen. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls with inurnment at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens at a later date.  Memorials may be directed to the church, Cedar Valley Hospice or the Cedar Falls High School Boosters Club.
