Arthur L Davis

Arthur L. Davis, 83, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at his home in Cedar Falls.  He was born January 28, 1927 in Berryville, Arkansas, the son of Arthur Lee Davis, Sr. and Eva Mae Loving.  Art married Shirley Anhalt on May 2, 1951 in Ft. Lawton, Washington.  He was a graduate of Simpson College and served in the U.S. Army during WW II and Korea.  Art was an insurance agent for many years, co-owned Black Hawk Publishing, and later founded Arthur L. Davis Publishing in 1983.  He was a member of the Cedar Investment Club 2, St. Patrick Catholic Church Knights of Columbus, VFW and AMVETS.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Davis, of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Sheila (Jack) Mixdorf, Nancy (Mark) Miller, and Lisa (Joe) Sevcik, all of Cedar Falls; two sons, Brad (Shirley) Davis of Manchester, Iowa and Scott (Wendy) Davis of Cedar Falls; twenty grandchildren and two great grandchildren; five brothers, Kenneth Davis of Cedar Falls, John (Emma) Davis of Deckard, Tennessee, Ernie (Joy) Davis of Phoenix, Arizona, Sidney (Ellie) Davis of Vermillion, South Dakota, Edwin (Bonnie) Davis of Groverton, Indiana, and two sisters, Arline James of Des Moines, Iowa and Eva Mae Anderson of Seattle, Washington.

Art was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Brenda Davis, two sisters, Kathleen Simonsma and Laurel Ann Opperman, and three brothers, Keith Davis, Lewis Davis and Jeri James Davis Millard.

Services will be 10:30 am Saturday, November 6, 2010, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls.  Visitation will be 4—8:00 pm Friday, November 5, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, where a 4:00 pm Knights of Columbus Rosary Service and a 7:00 pm Vigil Service will be conducted.  Visitation also one hour before service at the church.  Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.  A memorial fund will be established at a later date.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .
