Arthur H. Carmichael, Jr., 81, of Pharr, Texas, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, February 8, 2012, in Cedar Falls. He was born November 14, 1930 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the son of Arthur H. Carmichael, Sr. and Arlynn Doris Rumble. Art married Shirley M. Swanson August 27, 1950 at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls. He was a graduate of Cedar Falls High School and was a supervisor for twenty -one years at John Deere, retiring in 1993. Art was a member of the John Deere Supervisors Club, the Goldwing Road Riders Association and the Sno Hawks Snowmobile Club. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Carmichael, of Pharr, Texas; three sons, Steve (Valerie) Carmichael of Corbin, Kentucky, Jeff (Tamy) Carmichael of Wichita, Kansas and Michael (Shelly) Carmichael of Kewaunee, Wisconsin; a daughter, Teri (Greg) Austin, of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; ten grandchildren, Justin, Marc, Josh, Kerry, Tyler, Ben, Shea, Maddie, Parker and Ryan; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Bob (Chris) Carmichael of Unionville, Missouri and Dave (Sally) Carmichael of Tripoli, Iowa, and three sisters, June Ceaglske, Nancy (Kim) Dutler and Jean Haes, all of Cedar Falls. Art was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Anne Melick and a nephew, Jason Carmichael. Memorial services will be 11:00 am Saturday, February 11, 2012, at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 57:00 pm Friday, February 10, at Dahl Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. Art donated his body to the Mayo Clinic Dept. of Anatomy Donor Program. A memorial service is also planned for Saturday, March 3, at Tropic Star Park in Pharr, Texas.
