Arlin Ray Zevenbergen, 86, of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away peacefully of natural causes in his home, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on October 14, 1939, in Primghar, Iowa, the son of Arie and Jeannette (Mastbergen) Zevenbergen. Arlin grew up on the family farm and graduated from Sheldon High School. After high school, Arlin continued farming briefly before pursuing his education at the University of Northern Iowa, where he earned his degree.

Arlin was a man of deep faith and a longtime member of Nazareth Lutheran Church. He built a busy and productive career as a realtor and property manager, serving the Cedar Valley community for many years before retiring in 2019.

On September 14, 1979, Arlin married the love of his life, Dolores Kay (Diekman) Zevenbergen. Together they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with family, adventure, and joy.

Arlin had a passion for the outdoors and loved boating, traveling, and spending winters with Dolores in Florida. Above all, he cherished time with his family and caregivers. Arlin was blessed to have achieved most of his life goals, and his warmth and love touched all who knew him.

Survivors include: his wife of 46 years, Dolores Kay Zevenbergen of Waterloo; four sons, Kelly (Karen) Zevenbergen, Jody (Terry) Zevenbergen, Matt (Angie) Baish, and Tony (Liz) Baish; his sister, Betty Jean Meerdink of Hull, Iowa; his sister-in-law, Marlene Zevenbergen of Sanborn, Iowa; his brother-in-law, Larry Diekman of Washburn, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Arie and Jeannette Zevenbergen; an infant daughter, Jamie Zevenbergen; a son, Terry Ray Zevenbergen; a brother, John Zevenbergen; and a brother-in-law, Marvin Meerdink.

Services: Tuesday, April 21, 2021, at 11:00 am with Visitation one hour prior, both in the Larsen Chapel at Nazareth Lutheran Church of Cedar Falls (Please use entrance #7 off University Avenue). Burial to follow at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens.

Memorials: May be directed to Nazareth Lutheran Church or St. Judes Children’s Hospital

Arlin’s legacy lives on in the love of his family and the many lives he touched throughout his years. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
