Arlene M. Rucker, 91, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at her home in Cedar Falls. She was born January 29, 1922, in Buckeye, Iowa, the daughter of Oscar and Lena (Broer) Smith. Arlene married Virgil Harless and he preceded her in death in 1944. She married Willard Harold Asmus in 1945 and they were later divorced. Arlene married Leslie H. Rucker June 24, 1950 in Waterloo and he preceded her in death in 1975. Arlene worked for the University of Northern Iowa as a housekeeper, retiring in 1986. Following her retirement, she was a volunteer at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo for twenty years. She is survived by three daughters, Eileen Staner of Colona, Illinois, Debra (Ken) Harting and Dawn Rucker, both of Cedar Falls; two sons, Harold (Darlene) Asmus and Dennis Rucker, both of Cedar Falls; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren, and two dogs, Spice and Buster. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Everett Rucker, and three brothers, her twin brother Arlie, Everett and Willie Smith. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 21, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.
