He entered the Army and was stationed in Tacoma, Washington, serving from May 1954-April 1956. On July 6, 1956, he married Sharon O'Keefe at the Ramsey Reformed Church near Titonka. They settled in Albert Lea where he worked for Sears, but moved to the Cedar Valley when Miller was named Sales Manager for KWWL. He, later, worked successfully in commercial real estate development but his true passion became tireless efforts to raise funds for River Hills School where son, Michael, was a student. Miller was also deeply involved in the community serving on EPI, North Star Systems, Western Home and U.S. Bank boards as well as serving as Past President of the Cedar Falls Foundation.
