ANNA ELIZABETH MEHMEN, 79, of Cedar Falls died Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at her home. She was born September 24, 1924 in Finchford, Iowa the daughter of William Uptegrove & Mary Elizabeth (Bradford) Mabry. She married Henry G. "Hank" Mehmen February 18, 1945 at St. John Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death December 26, 1991. Anna was a housekeeper and head of the laundry department for the Cedar Falls Western Home for eighteen and one half years. She also had worked at Meadow's Café, the Diamond Brothers Store, and was a receptionist for Adam & Eve Beauty Salon. Anna was a member of Happy Thought Rebekah Lodge #256 for over 50 years and was a member of the Miner Mothers Club. Survivors include three sons, James A. Mehmen, Gary D. Mehmen, and Jeffrey L. Mehmen, all of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren, James Franklin (Lorri) Mehmen of Cedar Falls and Jason James Mehmen of Scottsdale, Arizona; two great grandchildren, Austin James Mehmen and Elizabeth Lynn Mehmen. Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter-in-law, Sharon Mehmen, her brother, Frank Mabry, and her sister, Jennie York. Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2004 at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with burial at Finchford Cemetery, Finchford, Iowa. There was a 7:00 p.m. Rebekah service Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
