ANN (RAAIJMAKERS) HOFFMAN was born March 22, 1912 in Woensdrect, The Netherlands, the daughter of Cornelius and Petronella "Nellie" (Raaijmakers) Daamen. She married Forrest S. Hoffman on May 2, 1931 in Waterloo, Iowa. He preceded her in death on October 22, 1972. Ann worked at Rath Packing Company in Waterloo for four years. She and her husband owned and operated H & H Superette Grocery Store on College Hill in Cedar Falls, Iowa for 23 years, retiring in 1964. Ann was also past president of the St. Patrick Catholic Church Womens League and participated in a local bowling league. She died Saturday, November 22, 2003 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, at 91 years of age.
Survivors include her daughter, Julie Oliver, of Burnet, Texas; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Cora Krall of Toluca Lake, California. Ann was preceded in death by her husband and parents, two great-grandchildren and a sister, Mary Krall Oberlander.
Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2003 at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with burial at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
