Anita Mary Whitson

Anita Mary Whitson, born on January 4, 1944, in Waterloo, Iowa, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025, in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She was a beloved wife to Paul D. Whitson and a dedicated mother to her son, Cory Gutshall. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emily and Merlyn Hildebrand of Janesville Iowa.

Anita was a passionate crafter who found joy in card making, often sharing her creations with family and friends. She had a deep appreciation for good food, especially Alaskan King crab, and enjoyed relaxing to the music of her favorite artist, Helen Reddy. Anita cherished her time spent in the garden and found immeasurable happiness in moments with her grandkids: Andrew, Ashlee, Aaron, and Alexa Gutshall, as well as her great-grandchild, Hallie Gutshall.

Her love for Hawaii was evident in her dreams of paradise, and she frequently turned to True Crime shows for entertainment. Anita lived by the motto, "Got Milk," which reflected her lighthearted spirit and love for life.

She is survived by her four sisters and many nieces and nephews, who lovingly knew her as Aunt Anita, and who will miss her dearly. Anita's warmth and creativity touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving behind cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

Anita's visitation will be held from 5-7pm, Monday, January 27, 2025, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. Burial will be held at a later date at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens.
