Amy Jo Workman, 56, of Cedar Falls, died peacefully on Monday, April 22, 2024, at her home in Cedar Falls. She was born July 29, 1967, in Waverly, Iowa, daughter of Gaylen and Janis (Kurtz) Wilson. Amy attended Janesville Community Schools, graduating in 1985. She worked for GMAC Mortgage Services in Waterloo for a number of years before earning her Medical Office & Billing Specialist certificate through Hawkeye Community College. Amy worked as a medical secretary before medical issues forced her into early retirement in 2006. On June 12, 1999, she married Scott Workman at United Methodist Church in Waverly and helped raise his two daughters, Leslie and Leann.

Amy loved taking photos and posting on her social media accounts. Her photography skills earned her the title of family photographer. Amy enjoyed editing photos to create albums and collages for family. As her mobility declined due to health complications, social media allowed her to stay in touch with family and friends. Amy loved spending time with family and spending time with her nieces.

Amy is survived by her husband, Scott of Cedar Falls; Scott's daughters, Leslie Workman of Tacoma, WA, and Leann Upton of Hanover, MD; brothers, Bill Wilson of Denver, and Ron Wilson of Waverly; sisters, Sue Green of Charles City, Deb Wilson and Julie (Al) Fisher, both of Waverly; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her eldest brother, Mike Wilson. Amy wanted to give special recognition to her sister, Deb, Paul Deziel PA-C, Mayo Clinic-Rochester, nephrology & staff, for saving her life in 2004-6.

Per Amy wishes, she was cremated and a private family gathering will be planned at a later date in honor of Amy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, Waterloo .
