Alvin Le Roy Pedersen, 90, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls. He was born January 21, 1926 in Cedar Falls, the son of Peder and Christina (Jacobsen) Pedersen. Alvin married Wilma Skene on June 7, 1947 in La Porte City, Iowa, and they later divorced. He married Loretta Reyberg on September 1, 1968 in Cedar Falls. She preceded him in death on March 5, 2006. Alvin graduated in 1944 from Hudson High School in Hudson, Iowa and served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He worked for Cedar Falls Utilities for over forty years, retiring in 1988. Alvin was a member of Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49, Waterloo American Legion Post 138 and the Cedar Falls Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his sweetheart, Virginia "Ginny" Hocken, of Cedar Falls; his two sons, Ronald (Rae Ann) Pedersen of Cedar Falls and Stephen (Betty) Pedersen of Victoria, Texas; his two daughters, Linda (Tom) Ladd of Des Moines, Iowa and Christina Wendel of Waterloo; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren, and one brother, James (Levelle) Pedersen, of Hudson.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; both of his wives; one grandchild, Jenifer Dickman; two brothers, Robert and Russell Pedersen, and a sister, Edna Dufel.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honor s will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be 4—7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, where a 4:30 p.m. Rosary Service will be conducted. Visitation also one hour before service at the church. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the Wounded Warriors Project. Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .
