Alice Elizabeth Walther-Ellis

Alice Elizabeth Walther-Ellis, 90, Cedar Falls, died Monday, July 14, 2025 at Oak Park Estates Assisted Living, Cedar Falls.

Alice was born May 11, 1935 at the family home in Davis County to the late Stanley and Florence (Carlson) Bales.  Following her graduation from high school, Alice went on to earn her teaching degree from the Iowa State Teachers College (UNI).  Later in life, she would earn her Master's degree in Education from UNI.  Alice married Donald Walther on June 16, 1957 in Cedar Falls and they celebrated 44 loving years together before his death in 2002.  Love found Alice once again marrying Jimmie Ellis on October 3, 2009, they celebrated 10 years together before his death in 2020.  Alice initially taught in a country school and later worked in special education for AEA 7 spending 31 years in education retiring in 1999.

Alice is survived by her children, Dean A. Walther and Diane M. (Jay Gaard) Walther; grandchildren, Christopher (Bailey) Wersinger and Jaqueline (Ryan) Thede; great-grandson, Jerry; siblings, Duane Bales, Oscar Bales, Christena LaPoint and David (Diane) Bales; and extended family and friends.  She is preceded in death by her sisters-in-law, Thelma and Janet Bales; and brother-in-law, Dick LaPoint.

Visitation for Alice will be from 4:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.  There will be a graveside service at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Garden of Memories, Waterloo.
