Del Leavitt, 77, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, March 28, 2013, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. He was born July 13, 1935 in North Platte, Nebraska, the son of Bernard and Laura (Whittington) Leavitt. Del married Reesa Norton on April 14, 1963 in Texarkana, Texas. Del did his undergraduate studies at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, earned his M.A. in engineering from Kansas State University and was an engineer at Deere & Company in Waterloo. He was very active in his church where he served in numerous capacities and also was an avid gardener. Survivors include his wife, Reesa Leavitt, of Cedar Falls; two sons, Rory (Heidilyn) Leavitt of Hermiston, Oregon and Scott (Daniela) Leavitt of Northport, New York; three grandchildren, Jeno, Milo and Gajer Leavitt, and a brother, Roland (Charleen) Leavitt, of Lincoln, Nebraska. Del was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013 at The Seventh Day Adventist Church, 550 W. Airline Hwy, Waterloo.
